Antique Turkish runners make amazing kitchen rugs.

The colors and patterns hide all the spills and stains; mine have endured red wine, pasta sauce, and chocolate as well as multiple rounds of dog messes, and they still look amazing. Turkish rugs are typically 100% wool, which is what I always recommend for durability and care (though beware the shedding; you’ll need to vacuum a lot the first few months you have your wool rug — it’s worth it). These rugs were made to wear well and age spectacularly! Plus antique rugs are a more environmentally friendly choice since you’re contributing to the circular economy when you buy them.

I get mine on Etsy and eBay and rarely pay more than $350 for one. Search “antique Turkish runner” or “antique Turkish rug,” maybe add your favorite color to the search terms, set the filter to your ideal size and budget, and and see what you find!
