Incorporate your hobbies into your home.

Someone submitted a question about how to incorporate their hobbies into their home; I love this question! As we work to personalize our homes and make them a celebratory reflection of ourselves, incorporating hobbies is such a great thing to do.

If you practice a martial art like jiu jitsu, tie your belt as though it’s on your waist, and hang it on the wall.

If you’re into chess or backgammon, invest in a beautifully designed board and pieces that can sit out on display all the time.

When we moved to Nashville from Maui and I was sad to no longer be able to surf in the mornings, I got the fin from my surfboard framed and hung it in the bathroom.

If you’re a live music lover, of course you can hang tour posters, album covers, and ticket stubs on your wall. But I also once hung a clients personalized guitar strap on the wall as part of a gallery wall. It didn’t require a fancy frame or anything, just a couple nails.

If you or your child love a particular sport, display a ball in your bookshelves; put it in an acrylic display box or stand to add a bit of polish.

If video games are your thing, search eBay for an old game cartridge from your childhood and either frame it in a shadow box or set it on top of 2-3 books as a display on a table or in bookshelves.

And of course, for any of these things, you can always look for cool art prints that celebrate your hobby. Society 6 and Etsy both have loads of great art prints.
