A historic New York City townhome

Brooklyn, NY

When this family wrote to MKW to ask if she’d be interested in helping with the interiors of their 120-year-old Brooklyn townhome, which was in the midst of being gut renovated by Ben Bischoff and his team at MADE Design / Build, it was such a dream project that MKW was certain it was a joke. MKW used to live in this very neighborhood and would walk past the beautiful townhomes lit up at dusk, peering into the windows to see how they were decorated! The owners wanted to honor what they called “the feminine grandeur” of the home while also ensuring it would be comfortable, artistically beautiful, and embrace their unique quirks. And your first thought upon entering should be, “damn, this is going to be a great party!” (That’s a direct quote from the client!) From the custom millwork inspired by Parisian bistros to the playful pink and white Moroccan zellige tile floor in the entry, this home is a true blend of old and new, with eclectic treasures from the family’s travels around the world.

This project was featured in the British publication, Homes & Gardens (our first international press!).
